In order to "riverfy" the big dog photo, I first used some effects in Paint Shop Pro to blur and obscure the background and make it a little more wild. I then utilized the text tool, pulling colors from the actual photo for the text, in order to create the effect of making the text harder to read. I tried to emulate the circular effect of the Rivers painting as well as the general feeling. I was less successful in emulating the light-dark-light-dark pattern.
